You eat darn well at Six Senses Zighy Bay. Girlahead once had the exhilaration of dining at Sense at The Edge, over 1000m mountain top, looking down from on high to the resort and the beach. You can dine on the beach, you can dine in your villa or on its terrace, and you can dine in the regular public places.

Lunch, when Girlahead arrived on this last visit, was outside on one of the many levels of Summer House, a trickle of a stream going by at one’s feet. Get used to the view, and the beauty of nature. That’s probably where people first eat when they arrive at Zighy Bay.

Dinner was outside on the terrace of Spice Market. Marvellous tabletop lighting helped, and with the rustle of overhead canopies and a slight wind it was impossible to hear anything from one table to the next. Choose your own mezze selection, followed by Zighy mix grill, succulent lamb chops, kebabs, chicken, and beef, with asparagus and broccoli, and a chocolate, a Khasab chocolate, like a little pyramid underneath a wafer shell.

Spice Market at breakfast is essential. It’s an absolutely superb way to start the day, especially if you’ve already worked out in the gym. Sit outside on Spice Market’s terrace. Uncovered wood tables, masses of terracotta- and sand-coloured cushions, terracotta linen mats, mustard linen napkins, dark brown ceramics, Oneida cutlery. Soft music and 270-degree views of palm tree tops set the tone. The buffet inside has a separate fruit display and table – fruits are cut to order. Everything else is set in military order. Breads are neatly arranged, in nine boxes across by three boxes up. Honey type, all labelled. Three types across, four types down. That’s the gist of the whole thing. Girlahead had four different granolas, each delicious.

Sadly, it was time to return to Dubai. Three of the utterly charming local team members were there to wave her away – above.
