Fairmont Golden Prague’s suite 727 is a long rectangular space overlooking the hotel’s beautiful garden, which is sunken about ten feet down from the road which borders the Vitava River. You look across the river to the other bank. Mornings, the river is dotted with kayaks, red or yellow. They’re replaced by pleasure boats later. Down in the garden, there's a tunnel underneath to get to the riverside. There's also a larger-than-life Jaroslav Róna bronza sculpture of a lioness - is she protecting the Jewish quarter, which is adjacent to the hotel?
Suite 727 is typically Czech: stark lines, outlined lines. Even the three-light chandelier over the six-seat oval dining table. The chandelier is formed from three, like, gigantic pillars, those tubular-shaped pillars that one takes, each of which has a cord going up to the ceiling, and the cords are taken through ninety degrees angles to get them to the central holding panel. The table is marble-topped, glass on top of that, and is undecorated, apart from a beautiful lacquered wood backgammon set from Printworks. The walls are like vertically printed fabric, charcoaly white, with heavily ridged vertical lines on them. There's a full cocktail set, very elegant. Some elegant wastepaper baskets are covered in mushroom leather, matching facial tissue covers and the handles for the clothes brush and shoehorn. A walk-in closet leads from the foyer, a walk-through closet into the bathroom: two sinks, good magnifying mirror, plenty of toiletries, and freestanding Le Labo. The living sitting area has one armchair, a tan leather sofa, and an upright cream leather desk chair at the desk, which fits across one of the whole suite's three windows.
This visit Girlahead actually ‘lived’ in the Greeenhouse, a lowest-level all-day in-out restaurant, overlooking the really gorgeous garden, plus the swimming pool, and the river, and looking around at the illuminated castle and other historic buildings. The A3 menu on a single card offers simplicity x style, truffle fries with truffle mayonnaise, as one of the listed snacks. In fact Girlahead went for a pair of starters, burrata with roasted beetroot, baby spinach and caramelised pecans, followed by a dainty portion of dry-aged beef tartare with bone marrow, and truffle fries on the side.
In case you think Girlahead’s return to Fairmont Golden was all about eating and drinking, you are not far off the point. Those who don’t want massive choice at breakfast relish the exclusivity of the eighth-floor lounge - breakfast in the Greenhouse is beautifully and tastefully copious. On the way out, local business tycoons had already established networking corners in the lobby. This is establishing itself, in a city of conversions, as Prague’s purpose-built hotel to elevate ambition: the Czech Republic, as of June 2026, had a population of 10.9 million – and at least 33,900 have not only their own homes and US$1 million+ in assets (Capgemini 2024).
